F.A.Q.'s About the Team
When are tryouts held?
Tryouts are held at the beginning of each school year. The fall tryouts for the 2008-2009 season will be scheduled for sometime during the early fall semester (late August/early September). Check back with the website next semester for specific tryout dates.
Incoming, transfer, and current Bradley students are all welcome to audition. Please don't hesistate to contact captains Katie Sowa at ksowa@bradley.edu or Monica Belling at mbelling@bradley.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
What will I be required do at tryouts?
During the mandatory clinic, you will be taught a 30 second to 1 minute routine that you will perform before the captain(s) and coach at tryouts. You will also be required to choreograph and perform 2 eight-counts of your own. Then you will be asked to do, or at least try, some technique. An optional clinic will also be offered in order to provide you the opportunity to work on the routine and to perfect any skills before your tryout.
What kind of technique do I need to know for the dance team and/or tryouts?
-Piroquettes (double, triple)
-Leaps (straight leg, switch, center)
-Kicks
-Splits (left and right)
-Toe touch
-Foutte turns (straight and bent leg)
-Axles
We base our judging on potential to do these techniques and dance moves. Don't worry if you can't do everything perfectly!
How often do we practice?
Our team has practice 3 days a week, 2 hours each day.
